2023 is quickly approaching, and so I wanted to check out the Sherwin Williams Color Collection for the upcoming year. The color collection is SO me. I thought I would break down each color and suggest some places in the home to incorporate each one. “Nostalgia” and “nature” are the two words that were highlighted in the article. Both are words that I personally resonate with when it comes to interior design; I think a space should be cozy, welcoming, and calming. Let’s see if you agree!
Poetry Plum- This brownish purple color is so rich in tones. I would love to see this color in a study, somewhere with lamp light and a restful ambience. It would go absolutely perfect with some deep greens, which could be incorporated with plants, velvet pillows, or other accessories in the room. I am thinking of painting my studio this color now!

Restrained Gold- This one is a tad bright for me, but I think that it would be adorable as an accent wall in a nursery or a fun powder room with some colorful, spunky accents. If your entire house is beige or gray, this color could bring that pop of color in a smaller space that your house might be calling for!

Natural linen- This is my “go-to” color. If I could paint the entirety of my house one color, natural linen would be it. It’s warm, it’s natural— it’s something that you won’t grow tired of. How could you? It is clean and easy to mismatch any accent color you want.

Darkroom- This may just be my favorite one in the palette. I know it may take some guts to use it, but I honestly don’t think you would be disappointed. I would love a fireplace painted this color, with the stacks of wood next to it. Or a primary bedroom. This may be too much of a risk, but I think it is a risk that would turn out incredibly. The color creates a beautiful, rich sanctuary prime for sleeping. I would love a cream headboard with large gold mirrors against this dark color— utter perfection!

Cool Beige- Similar to “Natural Linen” but a few shades darker. A Master bathroom or accent wall along with the “Natural linen” are good uses for this color.

Glamour- This mauve color is coming back! It gives a feminine touch to any space. I would love this in a little girl’s room or a bathroom. Again, this color pairs well with greens, so don’t need to be afraid to use it in a more naturally-colored space. It can bring that pop of color without being so bright.

Austere Gray- Love love this color. I am over the grays, if you couldn’t tell, but this color is showing more green to me. Would love this in a little boy or girl’s room as a subtle color addition. I think it would be gorgeous in a sun room or back porch as well, because the natural light would bring out the green tones in it.

Pewter Green- We have this in our bedroom now, and I think it is fantastic. At first, I was very hesitant, and it took quite a bit of convincing from Blake to make it happen. But eventually, I caved, and the color has grown on me. It is soothing, and it makes me feel as though I am in a comfortable lodge nestled in the mountains somewhere!

Wall Street- This color screams “classic” to me. I think of “New England”, stately, regal spaces when I see this color. I would love this in a guest room with more traditional furniture, like a four-poster bed. I think this would be gorgeous in a foyer as well. It is inviting, sophisticated, and very sharp in my opinion. I think the blues and grays are making their way out, but this blue almost has brown tones to it that make it so creamy and beautiful!

Hot Cocoa- The name says it is all for me. This color makes me want to snuggle alongside it like a cup of cocoa. If you are refinishing a piece of furniture in a light room, this would be an ideal color to choose to paint the piece. I would like this with black accents, so this could also be in a smaller bathroom with a black vanity. It reminds me of terracotta a bit, but without the harsh orange tones. Feeling inspired by this one!

To sum up, I am on the same page as Sherwin Williams this year, and I hope you can hop on board with some of these colors this year too! Maybe spruce up your space by painting a nightstand, an accent wall, or a small hallway! A small change can make a huge difference! Happy painting!
